Wahoo Speedplay pedals are a high-performance pedal system designed for road cycling. Originally developed by Speedplay, the brand and its pedal lineup were acquired and revamped by Wahoo Fitness in 2019. Wahoo made several key updates, focusing on durability, ease of use, and integration with their ecosystem (such as Wahoo bike computers and trainers).
Key Features of Wahoo Speedplay Pedals:
1. Dual-Sided Entry
All Speedplay pedals are double-sided, meaning you can clip in on either side—very convenient, especially at stoplights or during quick restarts.
2. Adjustable Float
The cleats allow for up to 15 degrees of micro-adjustable float, or you can set them up for a fixed (zero-float) position.
This adjustability is excellent for fitting riders with specific biomechanical needs, helping prevent knee pain or discomfort.
3. Aerodynamic Design
The pedal system sits close to the crank and has a streamlined shape for reduced drag, which is especially beneficial for time trialists or triathletes.
4. Cleat System (Standard Tension & Easy Tension)
Wahoo offers two cleat options:
Standard Tension Cleats: More secure retention, preferred by aggressive riders or racers.
Easy Tension Cleats: Easier to clip in/out, great for new or casual riders.
Both cleats are walkable and come with rubber covers to make walking easier and prevent slipping.
5. Increased Durability
Wahoo redesigned the pedals with sealed bearings and improved construction to make maintenance easier and prolong life.
The new design eliminates the need for regular greasing (a common issue with the old Speedplay Zero pedals).
6. Models in the Lineup (as of 2025)
Model | Weight | Intended Use | Notes |
Comp | ~232g | Entry-level Road | Nylon body, steel spindle |
Zero | ~222g | Performance Road | Stainless steel spindle |
Nano | ~168g | Lightweight/Race | Titanium spindle, carbon body |
Aero | ~224g | Time Trial/Triathlon | One-sided, aerodynamic design |
Powrlink Zero | ~276g | Power Meter Pedals | Dual- or single-sided power measurement |
7. Integration with Wahoo Ecosystem
The Powrlink Zero pedals (Wahoo’s power meter version) sync seamlessly with Wahoo computers like the ELEMNT BOLT or ROAM, allowing riders to track power, cadence, and other metrics easily.
If you are looking for Wahoo speedplay pedals and cleats Mainely Bicycle has you covered!
